The gathering at First Reformed Church was what Charles Lane of Lancaster Coalition for Peace and Justice described as a number of Lancaster County organizations that are “interested in many different aspects of the human condition here, and in the state, in the country, and in the world.”
About 30 people attended from groups including, in addition to LCPJ, Lancaster Interchurch Peace Witness, Transition Lancaster, $10.40 for Peace, and Occupy Lancaster.
Green Party member Daniel Riehl said he was just there to learn and see how the different groups can work together.

They are too influenced by big money, one person said.
They need the courage not to care about being re-elected, another said, adding that she saw that on the Charlie Rose show.
They are too invested in growth economics, was another comment.
We need strong alternative media, someone said. Jerry Lee Miller cited Josh Fox, director of the movie Gasland, who had urged people at the Washington, D.C. rally to be the media by contacting 25 other people. Others suggested using social media; or developing different events to get together with people; or go door to door and talk to people.
Use all the arts to have a fuel-free festival of music, dance, theater and puppetry was another idea.
Following the brainstorming session, Fran Gouveia presented a draft she created of a directory of Friends of Occupy Lancaster.
Jerry Policoff of Progressives for Pennsylvania (P4P) said his organization is going to become the Lancaster chapter of HealthCare4ALLPA.org.
And Louise Imm-Cooper said LCPJ is working with the Millersville University science department to schedule a conference of anti-fracking speakers during the spring 2013 semester.
Robert Allen collected people’s comment forms, which Kevin said he would summarize for the next meeting Thursday, September 6. The group gathers before the meetings for a potluck meal at 6:30 pm. All are invited to attend.
