A photo of Cruess is inset above in one of his drawings.
The prints and original drawings contained in the four portfolios will provide work for researchers and graduate students for years to come.
Below is an insert Cruess created for a 1909 company dinner at the Plaza Hotel. He'd jotted notes next to the names on the list of dinner guests, among them Paul Starrett, builder of the Empire State Building and brother of Goldwin Starrett, architect of the Algonquin Hotel and partner in the firm Starrett & Van Vleck. Next to his own name Cruess wrote, "Elegantarian."
