Tomato plants are flowering in urban gardens including this one. Last year's tomato plant overgrew its cage. The squirrels let it be and it produced prodigiously. This year: TWO tomato plants and an experiment with using bamboo supports in addition to the cages.
Also taking root: purple potatoes, fennel, lettuce, turnips (which haven't yet turned up) and the reliable Swiss chard.
Basil didn't re-seed so it's time to buy a couple plants. Gotta have it because it smells and tastes so good!
Oh, we're talking chives too! They're getting ready to blossom (photo below).
Connecting the irrigation hose was fun. It's like laying out a racetrack for miniature cars. Watch those water droplets zoom!
