Fortunately the sidewalk was undamaged. Or at least it was no more damaged than before my face hit it.
Now the glaciers have receded; yards and gardens have magically reappeared. Time for dreams of spring planting. Basil tops the wish list of plants. Plans for pesto are in the works: witness the gorgeous Thai granite mortar and pestle (photo, above) purchased at the Asian Market, 248 E. Liberty St. (tagged recently by the shameless Thresh). A bargain at $18. Plus carrying it home was a free workout. One step at a time.
